The two newest members of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute board of directors are Alaskans who represent large processors.
Gov. Bill Walker appointed Dutch Harbor’s Tom Enlow and Sitka’s Richard Riggs to the seven-member board earlier this month.
Enlow, who is CEO of Unisea, replaces Peter Pan’s Barry Collier, who was president of the ASMI board. A spokeswoman for Walker said Enlow was chosen to replace Collier, because Walker wanted another Alaskan on the board.
Riggs replaces Icicle’s Amy Humphreys who left the board last year after leaving Icicle.
Ocean Beauty CEO Mark Palmer, of Seattle, was also reappointed for another three-year term.
ASMI is a partnership between the seafood industry and the state to promote Alaska seafood domestically and abroad. It is a public corporation, and members of the board of directors are appointed by the governor. The board’s next meeting is Thursday in Juneau to discuss budget issues.
