KTOO seeks a qualified person to join our Gavel Alaska production crew, working seasonally during the upcoming 2025 Legislative session. The crew works together to produce daily live television and web coverage of the Alaska Legislature and other public affairs programming on the statewide KTOO 360TV channel.
Applicants should be available for full-time work from January 6th through mid-May, 2025. While not guaranteed, crew members may have the opportunity to work beyond those dates, during special sessions and on other production projects.
This position occasionally requires evening and weekend availability and overtime hours. We are looking for people with at least some experience in media production and with a basic understanding of the legislative process. We offer paid training in the technical skills necessary to do this work.
Our crew members operate control room equipment, including:
- Video switchers
- Studio, field and remote controlled cameras
- Audio mixers
- Graphics equipment
Crew members direct meeting coverage, choose camera shots, mix sound, add on-screen graphics and manage recordings and web streams. While most of the work is performed at the KTOO Studios, crew members may occasionally be asked to work in Alaska State Capitol building. Crew members working in the capitol must be able to lift, carry and set up equipment for live and recorded coverage with or without accommodation.
The hourly rate of pay for crew members starts at $24.45 per hour.
KTOO is committed to building a diverse staff and strongly encourages women and non-binary candidates; Alaska Native, Indigenous and people of color; people with disabilities and those with diverse economic and educational backgrounds to apply.
Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Apply online at https://www.ktoo.org/job-opportunities/apply-online/.
